Currency, banks and tipping

Spain's membership into the E.E.C. brought the Euro and rid Spain of the peseta. Credit cards are widely accepted on the island. The local banks open between 08.30h and 14.00h from Mondays to Fridays.(Closed all weekend)  24h automatic cash dispensers are available.

Tipping is generally appreciated although not compulsory- however, if you have received good service and have felt welcome please feel happy to reward your waiters, cleaning personnel, private transport chauffeurs and tourist guides.
