Sant Lluís

During the Seven Year War (1756-1763) the French built a barracks in this village in order to house its men and to establish an administrative point in which to organise the densely populated rural outskirts.

Travelling from Maò on the main road, the first historical building you see is the Dalt Windmill (Molí de Dalt), the flag ship of the town and which today serves as a rural museum.

Following with tradition the townspeople play Joc de Bolla, a game similar to bowls which is practised in the Cultural Centre, C.C.D. Sant Lluis.

Throughout the summer season regular concerts and exhibitions are held by local artists, craftsmen and musicians. The town council will provide a copy of the social calendar.

Surrounding the village are many rural hamlets, with pretty white washed farmhouses with white painted roof tiles as well, pathways and roads lined with dry stone walls and the magisterial land owner’s palaces called "llocs".

Travelling around the county of Sant Lluis you can enjoy the rural and coastal in many ways on horseback, bicycle or on two legs! As with the rest of the island there are many treats to the eye and of course, you can always enjoy a clean dip in any of the coastal beaches and coves.
